The Missouri National Board for Professional teaching standards and the Missouri Department of Education recently recognized Mrs. Karen Keck and Mrs. Judy Allen in a special ceremony.    The event took place on February 19th in Jefferson City, Missouri at the Capital Rotunda.   In 2007, 78 Missouri teachers achieved National Board Certification. There are now 63,281 National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) in the United States.

National certification is rigorous as teachers often dedicate countless hours of their own time to improve their skills and knowledge to help their students in the classroom.

National Board Certification is a teacher-driven, voluntary process established by NBPTS, certification is achieved through a rigorous, performance-based assessment that typically takes one to three years to complete and measures what the most accomplished teachers should know and be able to do.
