| Kirksville Young Leaders Institute is a select
group of Juniors. The students apply at the end of their sophomore
year. The KYLI is a leadership program endorsed by the
Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce, the 2006 Kirksville Leadership
Institute Class, and Brashear, Novinger, and Kirksville School Districts to
develop young leaders and encourage their involvement within their
community. More information and application coming soon! I. Purpose and Mission The purpose of the Kirksville Young Leaders Institute is to build and develop strong, competent leadership and encourage the use of effective decision making skills within participating high school juniors. Participants will be exposed to information about our community and will be encouraged to make positive impacts within the community by embracing leadership opportunities.
II. Goals a. To develop a sense of enthusiasm and a �can do� attitude for our community. b. To identify and select highly motivated emerging leaders. c. To inform and challenge the participants as to the needs and opportunities of our community. d. To stimulate within the participants an increased level of commitment and participation in our community using the teamwork approach. e. To develop an alumni association for graduates to continue their commitment to participation in leadership roles and education about the area.
III. Strategy & Objectives a. To prepare future leaders to impact Kirksville and the surrounding communities. b. Program will consist of 15 � 18 participants annually. c. Target audience will consist of high school juniors from the Kirksville, Novinger and Brashear area. d. Program will be unique from other leadership programs by fostering a long-term commitment to Adair County.
