- With rule of thirds you want
the object to be off to the side. There is Imaginary lines to divide the
image both horizontally and vertically. Place important elements of your
picture where these lines intersect. Both of my pictures follow these
rules with the fountain off to one side and then with the football
field, the stadium is off to one side. You want to keep from centering
objects that make the picture too blah.

- Some guidelines include taking
a picture by incorporating a frame into the image. Windows are one
possibility, but you can also use the branches of a tree or any other
object you can place in the foreground.
I liked these pictures because I used a hole in a patio chair for
one frame and then I used a window in a play house to take the one of
the playground. You want your subject to be behind the frame instead of
in front.

- Depth of field is the range of
distance in a picture that is in sharp focus. When depth of field is short, only
objects close to the subject appear sharply focused. With large depth of field, most
objects in the picture are in focus. Both of my depth of field pictures
are short depth of field. You could also classify them as in
perspective. You want to take them where they either get smaller or
bigger the farther back into the distance it goes. I did this with the
piano and the fence.

- The word “perspective” means
“point of view”. It means where you stand in relation to your
subject. You want to take
different angles and in ways that you wouldn’t normally look at things.
I took an old truck from the side and I took a picture of the pony and
made his body look smaller then his head. I just took the objects from a
different perspective then normal.

- Every light source emits a
particular hue. Candlelight gives you a scene with warm, reddish tones
and a cloudy day gives a bluish tint. I did a sunset setting in my side
mirror, which is still a little bit hard to see all the reds and yellows
the sun was making. Also the CD gives off all the colors of a spectrum
when shined into the sun or a light source of some kind.

- Lighting you want to try and
capture reflections and things that have lots of light. You can have low
lighting as well. My picture of the hallway shows the reflections of the
light off the floor. Also my picture of the sun could be framing with
tree branches as well as colors of light.

- Patterns can be found in
nature as well as in architecture and on clothing. Textures can be found
in nature, clothing and buildings. We have patterns in our world all
around us. I have a blanket that shows the rainbow and then the patter
of someone's shirt that is also a texture of felt. It feels soft and
keeps you warm.

- In taking black and white
pictures you want to consider the following; shape, lighting, contrast,
texture, and tone. Black-and-white photographs have a way of conveying
an antique look that you cant capture in color. Mine I didn’t take this
semester but I took this summer when we went to the Grand Canyon. It also uses depth of field and
textures.

- Changing the perspective and
the angle of the camera can change the look of the building in your
photograph. When taking these pictures you want to use all the rules you
have learned. I used perspective and lighting to try and capture the
church the best I could.

- You use macro when you want to
take little objects up close. You have to change to the macro setting on
your camera. I took my moms ring and a sewing needle up really close. I
also took the ends of magazines. I also used perspective and depth of
field.

- Holiday lights was really
difficult to do. You have to set your camera really still to not bump
and blur the picture. I took one of out tree and it was a little blurry
but you can use it as color of lights as well. The other one just uses
white light with the reindeer and the ice sickle lights.

- I learned a lot with layers in
Photoshop this whole year. How you can make realistic pictures and
artistic ones. I am showing my cartoon kids that I had with lots of
layers and adjustment layers. I also learned how to change the
backgrounds.
