Three Kirksville Schools Receive MO SW-PBS 10 Year Award of Excellence
Three schools from the Kirksville R-III School District are part of 25 schools to be honored for 10 or more years participating in the MO SW-PBS Award of Excellence. Congratulations to the Kirksville Early Childhood Learning Center, Kirksville Primay School and Ray Miller Elementary.
In May 2018, 177 Missouri public and charter schools will be recognized for exemplary implementation of Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS). SW-PBS is an evidence based, proactive approach to teaching and reinforcing behavioral expectations in order to improve student behavior, maximize instructional time, and increase student engagement.
Over the thirteen year history of MO SW-PBS, over 600 partner schools have participated in the rigorous process of implementation, data collection and artifact submission. Recognition is a collaborative process of application by participating schools and standards based feedback by the Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC) Consultants. The process provides an opportunity for an iterative refinement of school implementation to not only improve fidelity, but also to sustain the implementation efforts.
The 10 year exemplar schools listed above will be honored during Regional Recognition ceremonies held during the thirteenth annual Missouri SW-PBS Summer Institute (SI) on Tuesday, June 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, MO.
Congratulations on sustaining systematic implementation to improve student outcomes!
