Kirksville Primary Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

The following procedures are how we plan to implement student pick-up
(west doors) every day during the school year:

1. Enter by way of the first entrance directly east of the Middle
School off Hamilton Street. (You’ll not want to exceed the 20 mile per
hour speed limit as the KPD does enforce this limit.)

2. When you arrive at KPS you may drive around the lane on the
west side of the building with the flow of traffic traveling from south to
north. We ask that no one double park. One lane must be kept open for
traffic to move as freely as possible. Students should arrive between 7:40 –
8:10 a.m.

3. The students will be dismissed from their classrooms at 2:55
p.m. As soon as we have them ready in the west hallway we’ll open the
door for dismissal. There are 3 doors on the west side of the building. The
first door will be for kindergarten student pick-up, the second door is for 1st
grade and the third door will be for 2nd grade. Please stand in line and wait
your turn to be called on. This allows for less confusion and makes the task
at hand run much smoother.

4. When we open the door please tell us the child(ren) you are
after and they will be called. This procedure will be carried out as quickly
as possible. However, we do ask that you bear with us since it will take
several days to connect all names and faces.

5. If you have reason for someone else to pick up your child(ren)
at any time during the year, you must notify the classroom teacher or call the
office (665-5691) to tell us of your plans. When doing so we ask that you
leave the name of the individual in charge of picking up your child on that
particular day. Please call the office no later than 2:30 as we must have
time to relay the messages to teachers at the end of the day. Children
