Kirksville R-III Pivoting to Level 3
The unprecedented rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus in the Kirksville community is now significantly impacting the Kirksville R-III School District. While there is an increase in the number of positive students and staff, the impact on us is mostly being felt in the very high numbers of staff and students required to quarantine. It is simply not now possible to meet the needs of the students in onsite learning. Beginning Monday November 9, 2020 District schools will be closed to in person learning.
Additionally, on Monday and Tuesday November 9th and 10th there will be a "pause" in all instruction. All Kirksville K-12th grade students will remain at home, but there will not be any planned instructional activities those two days. Staff will use these days to finalize plans for full off site learning that will begin on Wednesday November 11, 2020. This pivot to Level III will end on Tuesday November 24, 2020 with students returning to Level II instruction on Monday November 30th, assuming that the virus conditions allow.
The District will continue to provide meals for all students. Beginning Monday November 9th meals will be delivered to various locations around the community, similar to what took place during the spring of this year. Exact locations have not yet been determined but please watch the District webpage and Facebook page for more information. For additional information about each school's Level III Instructional plans please see the District website.
Thank you for the understanding and support as we try to successfully manage these difficult and unsettling times.
