Clarification to the ACHD Modified Quarantine Announcement
The announcement yesterday from the Health Department about Kirksville R-III modified quarantine time and what qualifies a person for it included language that was somewhat unclear.
Regarding the language "approved two-layer masks must be worn," there is no new requirement that students or staff must wear 'two masks." In truth a two-layer single mask has been the expectation from very early in the pandemic. With the exception of "gators" most of the masks that are currently being worn in our district already have two layers, even the paper masks frequently worn have two layers of material.
The announcement was made primarily to re-emphasize the single mask type and that if a gator is worn it must be doubled over to qualify a person for the modified quarantine. The District appreciates the continued support of the Health Department and we believe this modification of quarantine days will help us to more effectively approach our academic mission.
