Mrs. Rebecca Cross Named Assistant Principal of William Matthew Middle School for Kirksville R-III School District KIRKSVILLE, MO (June 15, 2023) – The Kirksville R-III School District has announced Mrs. Rebecca Cross as the Assistant Principal of William Matthew Middle School. Originally from Lewis County, Cross now resides in the Macon area with her husband Nathan and their two daughters, Zadie and Adley.

Cross was an ELA teacher at Macon R-I School District for the past twelve years as well as one of the summer school directors. Prior to Macon, Cross spent her first year teaching fifth and sixth grade in Gorin. 

Cross has a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a middle school social studies emphasis from Southwest Baptist University. She later obtained a certification in 5-9 communication arts, as well as a Masters and Specialist degree from William Woods University in Education Administration. 

Cross said “I am very excited to meet the staff and students at WMMS! I am looking forward to interacting with everyone and helping staff and students in any way I can to help make school a positive experience.”

Kirksville R-III William Matthew Middle School Principal, Brandi VanDelft stated, “Mrs. Cross is going to be an excellent addition to our staff as she brings in 13 years of teaching experience; 12 of which being a middle school ELA teacher, as well as administrative experience being a summer school director. She prioritizes building positive relationships with students, families and staff. I look forward to Mrs. Cross joining our team as the new assistant principal.”
