Just a reminder that the School Board is seeking community input on our Community Engagement policy. You can respond through the attached survey link; send a written message to the district; or make comments during the Wednesday evening board meeting.
The following message is a repeat from one we posted a number of days ago.
In 2022 the The Missouri legislature established a legal requirement for districts to gather feedback regarding specific school districts’ policies. One of those, BDDH-1: Community Engagement, is being revised and requires that we solicit feedback from community members. We created a survey as one part of that process. Another way you can provide feedback is to attend either the May 24, 2023 or June 14, 2023 school board meeting and make verbal comments to the Board. We also invite you to send written comments about this policy by sending to communications@kirksville.k12.mo.us. You can access a draft of the policy through this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16L8bveOCSL2CDRMyS7vmKPOg7NfdhvULiDhCoVrrPwk/edit?usp=sharing After you review the policy please leave your feedback through the link to the survey found here: https://forms.gle/pxg27hQhsfYQ72XK8. Or by sending an email to communications@kirksville.k12.mo.us.

Get a free physical for sports on today between 3:30 and 7:30. Have your PRIVIT account updated before you come. Physicals will be given at main office of the High School.

As a reminder this Wednesday May 24th is the last day of school!
Summer School Begins June 1st.

WMMS Students of the Quarter, Ethan Hale and Colton Pierce. Ethan and Colton were voted Students of the Quarter by the teachers and staff at WMMS from among all of the 8th grade Students of the Week throughout the school year.
Usually, only one student is selected, but this time there was a tie between two very deserving students. Both Ethan and Colton are model students who give their best effort every day. Both of them work hard to achieve their best academically and model excellent character in the classroom and in athletic competition. Ethan is an outstanding wrestler and Colton is an amazing runner. Both students were part of the 4x800m relay that broke the school record this spring! We can’t wait to cheer each of you on in pursuit of the great things you will do at KHS next year!

On Saturday evening the YMCA presented the Kirksville R-III School District with the Community Partnership award. We are honored to be the recipients of this award. This partnership began 2 years ago to provide a safe, academic, and healthy place for children to go after school until 5:30.
The program continues to grow with approximately 80 students between Kirksville Primary and Ray Miller. It is run by teachers and paras who provide homework help, enrichment activities, crafts, community educational partnership programs, and a healthy snack.
Thank you YMCA and Kirksville R-III for continuing this much needed program for the families of our community!

Safety and cooperation are top of our list for the students and families we serve. To help us help you it is very important that parents who may have joint custody of the children keep the school offices updated on any guardian and emergency contact situations.
The schools strive very hard to ensure students are released only to those persons authorized by you. From time to time legal paperwork determines who those persons can be and it is crucial that school offices are made aware of these and any changes to the documents.
Feel free to contact the school district administration with any questions you may have.

At approximately 12:10 pm today a fire alarm was sounded at the middle school which required Kirksville Fire and police personnel to respond to the call. There was no true emergency. At the moment we are trying to determine if there was a system malfunction or if a student pulled one of the alarms.
All students and staff are safe and now back in the building and classrooms.

Thursday, April 27 was the first day of the MSHSAA State Solo and Ensemble Festival. Students that receive a Gold Rating (1) on their solo or ensemble at the district level are eligible to attend the state festival. We took 42 band and choir students to the University of MIssouri Campus to perform yesterday.
Please congratulate the students on their accomplishments. Solos and ensembles are not worked on in class! This is extra and not required for any student. We are so proud of all of our students that are making music!!

Come join us for the BOGO Book Fair this week!
