We've all seen the memes and posts on social media with the lists of things people wished had been taught to them in school.
Well you can say that Mrs. Alexis Riley's RTI group has been exposed to a real world task. Right now they are working on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals. Yesterday she gave them the task of shopping online for groceries. They had to get the most food possible for $150 for a family of five, eating at home two meals a day. They were given a list of foods they MUST purchase and a list of things the family wanted to stock up on.
Mrs. Riley says that most students were frustrated by how much tax impacted their budgets. We adults all feel the same, sixth graders--the exact same!

We are hiring part-time help for our food service department to begin as soon as possible! Apply here: https://kirksville.tedk12.com/hire/ViewJob.aspx?JobID=2452
Please tag people, cross-post, and share!

We are so proud of Mrs. Sara Williams, our activities director! She has earned the title of Certified Athletic Administrator by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA). A very elite group of athletic admin nationwide earn this title--based on their experiences, contributions to the field, and a rigorous comprehensive exam.
Congratulations, Sara, we are happy you are a Kirksville Tiger! #welovekirksville #kvpride #kvtigers

At Wednesday evening's school board meeting, Angela Caraway and Nick Billington were sworn into their new three-year terms by our secretary to the board, Kristy Panos. Both were originally elected to the board in 2021 and re-elected last week.
We asked what makes them most proud of Kirksville Schools, this is how they each replied...
Angela Caraway: I’m most impressed by the district’s commitment to providing students with multiple resources to help them achieve their educational, social, and emotional wellness goals. The efforts made to engage families and the community in fostering student success is an exceptional testimony to the teachers, administration, and staff of the Kirksville R-3 district.
Nick Billington: My favorite thing about our district is how passionate our staff is for our kids. I also love to see the KATC kids have a passion for a skill or trade. My favorite thing to do personally is watch Tiger football Friday evenings at Spainhower!

We are so proud of Mrs. Tracy Vorkink, math teacher at Kirksville High School! She has earned her National Board Certification for teachers. NBC is the highest certification a teacher may obtain--only 1.66% of all Missouri teachers have earned this distinction.
Congratulations, Mrs. Vorkink, we are happy you are a Kirksville Tiger!
