Merry Christmas from Kirksville R-3. Happy first day of Hanukkah. Happy Kwanzaa.
Happy Boxing Day to Canada tomorrow...and to all a good night.

The spirit of giving is alive and well in Kirksville this Christmas! HUGE shoutout to the Kirksville Professional Fire Fighters Local 2952 for their generous donation of $1000 toward unpaid student meal accounts! Some of their members are pictured here presenting a gigantic check to KPS Principal Diana Johnson, Assistant Superintendent Tricia Reger, and Food Services Director Lynnette Gannon.
Thank you firefighters, this could not have come at a better time! Our district is currently facing $38,000 in unpaid student meal accounts. We encourage any and all families who could use the help to apply for the Federal Free and Reduced Price School Meals Program to see if they qualify. However, this program does not pay off accumulated unpaid accounts prior to qualifying. So thanks again, Local 2952!
If you would like to help with student lunch debt, please help spread the word about applying for the free and reduced meals program. Families can apply at this link: https://www.myschoolapps.com or by stopping by the Board of Education Office at 1901 East Hamilton. We have paper applications available at the office, and in multiple languages. The office is open on business days between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Monday Momentum for October 28, 2024
Crews will break ground this week on a new asphalt parking lot on campus, located west of the middle and high schools. This project is the first in a series funded by the bond approved by voters in April of this year. The new lot will replace parking spots displaced by the upcoming construction of the new performing arts center.
Dirt work and asphalt paving will take place within the construction fence set up earlier this fall. While some trees will need to be removed during construction, new trees will be planted as part of the completed parking lot.
The goal for completing the parking lot is December 2024. J.T. Holman of Macon is the general contractor for this project.

There is no school on Friday, October 25, 2024. It is a student and staff holiday. Have a great weekend!
