Building Resource Studio architects have released design renderings for the construction project at Ray Miller Elementary. The planned addition will include office space, a conference room, and a secure vestibule entrance for increased safety. The project is slated to begin in the summer of 2025, with completion targeted for the summer of 2026.
The addition will extend the existing main entrance and office areas slightly to the north, creating space for the secure vestibule. Visitors will check in through a window between the new vestibule and the office area before being granted access to the main building.

Crews will break ground this week on a new asphalt parking lot on campus, located west of the middle and high schools. This project is the first in a series funded by the bond approved by voters in April of this year. The new lot will replace parking spots displaced by the upcoming construction of the new performing arts center.
Dirt work and asphalt paving will take place within the construction fence set up earlier this fall. While some trees will need to be removed during construction, new trees will be planted as part of the completed parking lot.
The goal for completing the parking lot is December 2024. J.T. Holman of Macon is the general contractor for this project.

There has been a fire in the apartment complex to the east of Ray Miller Elementary. Ray Miller has not been affected by the fire and the fire department is actively controlling the situation. We are keeping Ray Miller students inside for recess. We are working to make sure that students who live in the complex or who take the walking trail have a dismissal plan before the end of the day. Traffic at the east end of Normal Street is blocked and this may impact parent pickup at Ray Miller. We will keep you posted closer to dismissal time.
