Save these dates! Tomorrow, 10/14/24, is a regular day of school, but we have some important dates coming up! #kvpride #welovekirksville #kvtigers

There has been a fire in the apartment complex to the east of Ray Miller Elementary. Ray Miller has not been affected by the fire and the fire department is actively controlling the situation. We are keeping Ray Miller students inside for recess. We are working to make sure that students who live in the complex or who take the walking trail have a dismissal plan before the end of the day. Traffic at the east end of Normal Street is blocked and this may impact parent pickup at Ray Miller. We will keep you posted closer to dismissal time.

Our Digital Design and Graphic Arts students at Kirksville Area Technical Center designed, printed, and installed the graphics for the golf cart used by our Work Experience Program. It looks great, Mrs. Scheurer and students! Thank you for your expertise. Love that you added your class logo, too.

As we prepare to begin a new week of school we want to express our gratitude for the response of our teachers, staff, administration, students, community, Officer Harden, and all of the Kirksville Police Department in light of the social media threats at the end of last week. The Kirksville Police Department will continue to have an additional presence around campus over the next few days and we will continue to prioritize the safety of our students and staff. We continue to value the ongoing communication and take all reports seriously. Please do not hesitate to contact the District or the Kirksville Police Department should you encounter any threats in the future.

Updates Concerning Possible Threats
Friday, September 20, 2024, 1:00pm
Dear K-R3 Community:
The recent school shooting at Apalachee High School near Winder, Georgia, has increased the occurrence of online social media threats involving school shootings, both in Missouri and across the country. Districts in our area have had their share of threats this week, and Kirksville Schools are not immune to these events. Last night our district was made aware of general transient social media posts involving our schools.
The local posts are being thoroughly investigated by the Kirksville Police Department in full cooperation with the district. All reported threats are investigated today and every day. So far none of the reported leads have proven to be credible. We want to thank community members, parents, staff, and students for reporting any perceived threats. Any new leads are greatly appreciated; please contact KPD at 660-785-6945.
We want to note that keeping our students and staff safe always has to remain our number one priority. Along with that, we want to acknowledge that this is an emotional issue for everyone involved; we respect the decisions of parents to do what is best for their children when sending them to school.
Lastly, we want to thank Kirksville Police Department and our district staff for their continued commitment to the safety of our students.
Check out this video update from Mr. Webb: https://youtu.be/6kgFCGRSNfs
Thank you,
Kirksville R-III School District

Kirksville R-III is aware of rumors concerning a potential threat made against our schools and is currently working with authorities. Law enforcement is actively investigating the matter. The rumored threats have not been found to be specific or credible. Law enforcement will have an increased presence at our schools tomorrow (9/20/24), out of an abundance of caution.
As always, please contact any of our buildings, or Kirksville Police Department, with information of potential threats. Thank you for partnering in keeping our community safe.

Happy Labor Day to everyone! We hope you find time to spend with your families today or just relax.
Please help us welcome Ms. Cinnamon St. Clair! We are happy to announce that she has joined us as a 7th and 8th grade English teacher at William Matthew Middle School.
Cinnamon graduated from La Plata High and NWMSU; she then earned her Master's of English from Eastern Illinois University. Before joining us she was a literacy college instructor at MACC.
When not at school, Cinnamon loves going on walks and enjoy snuggling up with her dogs Taylee and Rosebud plus her cat, Nala. She says she loves crime podcasts and documentaries. We are glad you have joined Kirksville Schools, Ms. St. Clair! #kvproud #welovekirksville #kvtigers

Please help us welcome Mrs. Laura Moore! We are happy to announce that she has joined us as our agriculture teacher at Kirksville Area Tech Center. She will also be serving as our FFA advisor.
Laura has started her fifteenth year in education. Before joining us, she was the administrator at Northeast Christian High School. Laura told us, "I love to see a student taking something they've learned in the classroom and applying it to another situation in real life. When they are able to experience how empowering education is, it is so motivating--both for them, and for me. "
Laura and her family have a flock of sheep that her daughters show all over the country. In her free time, she enjoys reading, fly fishing, doing upholstery projects, and riding horses. She is pictured here with her husband Adam and daughters, Quincy and Penelope. We are glad you have joined Kirksville Schools, Mrs. Moore! #kvproud #welovekirksville #kvtigers
